About UCHWA

The Utah Community Health Worker Association (UCHWA) is an organization that was developed to serve the needs & empower community health workers by supporting, organizing and promoting the workforce at a state-wide level. We focus on strengthening and unifying  the voice of community health workers as a means of addressing the gap between health care systems and underserved communities.

Unity

Unifying the voice of CHWs across Utah. We are a professional association for community health workers built by and for community health workers.

Acknowledgment

Acknowledging the efforts of the CHW workforce by emphasizing the essential work they do within their communities to eliminate health disparities and addressing other social determinants of health. 

Equity

Emphasizing equity within public health to ensure that CHWs and stakeholders are united in the efforts towards health equity and access for all.

Community engagement

Connecting community based organizations with the necessary state resources to develop programs, infrastructure, policies, procedures and research.

Our vision

We envision community health workers working and collaborating with each other across the state while thriving within a variety of leadership roles and making an impact within the public health sector.
